“Cave Clouds” in Sima de la Higuera in southern Spain. To capture the shape and color of these unusual speleothems is one thing, capturing the moisture condensing on them, not to mention hundreds of feet down and thousands farther in a remote cave, is another matter. Go-anywhere, rapid deployment AC/R, for albedo color & roughness, brings unprecedented realism to replicas of things large and small. Isolated specular information on the left side reveals the secret to grain of sand detail and accurate roughness.

Common photogrammetry typically captures scenes with ambient lighting as we have done in this comparison. The result is that the lighting, including shadows and specular reflections, is “baked” or trapped in the photography.

AC/R records separately how light interacts with materials, so that lighting can be tuned in any way imaginable after capture.
